From Inclusion to Impact: Advancing Employment Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in India’s Expanding Economy

The Divyangjan Kaushal Yojna launched by the DEPwD under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India has identified high growth priority sectors that offer task-oriented roles that can be adapted for different disabilities.

This working paper jointly produced by The Capital P Lab and IDEA, looks at the job potential these sectors can create for people with disabilities. It also maps the 21 disabilities, recognized by India's RPwD Act, 2016 with different roles within the sector in the context of urban and rural challenges. The paper finally proposes measures that offer a scalable path forward.
